Q3 2008 Anime
Wow, looks like this season's shows have already started. I almost didn't notice that it was a new season, but as usual, here is a list of stuff that I know of that's coming out. Title hyperlinks lead to images that I have found for the show.

Also, there's an anime review blog out there that defines the viewing demographic that I fall under very well: The Oldtaku. His opinions on the shows that are covered match mine very closely, so if you want to know more about the shows to watch, check it out: http://oldtaku.wordpress.com/.

First, there's one show that I know of that I missed last season:

  • Megumi (March) - (ONA) Documentary anime based on the 1977 abduction of 13-year old Megumi Yokota by the North Koreans. Free for download.

Wow, those bring back memories! It's been forever since I collected quotes though. I guess I stopped doing that at about the same time I stopped going to conventions purely for social reasons. :p

Quotes from frazzled convention volunteers really aren't very interesting. Anecdotes and gossip are a far better read.

I wonder if any of the con quotes that you posted on the Amuck board is archived...or even Rmuck. It would be nice to see some of them again, if anything, for sheer nostalgia....and a reminder that we were young and sort of innocent once.

Shocked there is still no Evangelion show, or if there is/was I missed it. You couldn't swing a dead cat in Japan a month ago and not hit something Evangelion related. Thought a show was coming out.

Oh yeah, there are the Evangelion Rebuild movies -- not a series -- that are still being made. v1.0, You are not alone was released last September, and v2.0 is scheduled for release this year. I couldn't find a definite release date, though at a guess, I'd say probably on September 1 of this year. v3.0 and Final have no release date either.

being the yuri fangirl i am, i have to mention the Shoujo Sect OAV coming out in late July, which looks like it will be close to, if not an exact retelling of the manga by Kurogane Kenn.

there's no real 'story', nor would i say it's 'slice of life' like. there are 2 girls that kind of fill the role of being main characters, and they're actually featured in my icon. pretty much, there are a group of students that attend an all-girls school and each chapter of the manga would follow a girl as she has a run-in with another girl- sometimes out of love, sometimes out of lust.

make no mistake, this is a yuri hentai, though in comparison to most it's pretty darn fluffy. i made the mistake of checking to see if any of the other manga in the magazine had any yuri to them and ugh...the rest of them were your typical gusher type of hentai that would bukkake you in the face if it wasn't bound to the pages. none of the girls get too kinky beyond a bit of menage e trois and vibe/bullet action. a couple of times, there's a bit of dom/sub but it doesn't go so far as to bring out the leather and whip. so yeah, it's not SFW but it's safer than most and is JUST yuri, unlike most hentai that throws yuri in there to try to ping all the subgenres.

...yeah, i'll just stop gushing over it now. >_>;

I don't plan to include the more explicit adult titles in my lists, but as long as you're there for me, I won't need to cover them. ;)
